Arun Oberoi
CEO
Arun Oberoi is responsible for driving corporate strategies and operational performance at Aveksa. Previous to joining the company, he served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations running all worldwide sales and services for Micromuse, which was a leading provider of network management software used by banks, telecommunications carriers, governments, retailers and other organizations to monitor and manage their sophisticated technology infrastructures. After Micromuse was acquired by IBM in 2006, he led its continued worldwide field expansion and strong growth, as Vice President within IBM Tivoli. Prior to joining Micromuse, Oberoi held senior executive positions at Hewlett-Packard, including Vice President and General Manager of Corporate Accounts and Industries and Vice President and General Manager of Software Sales and Marketing. In the latter position, he was responsible for HP’s software product lines, including OpenView, security and middleware, and led the sales growth from the initial stages to $1 billion in revenues across the portfolio. He received his bachelor’s degree from Delhi University and has a double master’s in Business, with an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Deepak Taneja
Founder, President and CTO
Deepak Taneja founded Aveksa in 2004 and led the company from inception through Feb 2008 before moving into the role of President and CTO. In this role, he is responsible for driving Aveksa’s technology vision and ensuring that the company’s solutions deliver the capabilities that customers need to solve their access governance challenges for today and tomorrow. Previously, he was CTO and VP of Engineering at Netegrity, where he was instrumental in establishing the company as a market leader in Identity and Access Management. Deepak has also held senior management roles at Switchboard, Banyan Systems and Intel Corporation. He holds a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
John O’Donnell
Chief Financial Officer
John O’Donnell is responsible for all the financial and administrative operations of the company. He brings more than 15 years of financial leadership experience and a track record of success to Aveksa. Before joining Aveksa, John was the Controller at Empirix Inc., a leading provider of voice and web application testing and monitoring solutions, where as a member of the management team he was responsible for directing all accounting, risk management, financial planning and analysis, and contract management activities. Prior to Empirix, John was the Vice President of Finance at CA, Inc. where he led the finance and administration function for the Northeast Region and Canada. He joined CA after playing a key role in the successful acquisition of Netegrity, Inc., a leading enterprise security management software vendor. At Netegrity, John served as the Controller and was responsible for directing all financial activities including accounting, tax, financial planning and analysis, risk management, SEC reporting and the Sarbanes-Oxley certification process. John began his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young LLP. John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts.
Brian Cleary
Vice President, Marketing
Brian Cleary is responsible for all marketing activities, including product marketing, product management, marketing strategy and market development. Brian brings more than 15 years of success in directing technology marketing initiatives for both emerging technology companies and top-tier enterprise software vendors to his new position at Aveksa. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing for OpenPages, a leading provider of enterprise governance, risk and compliance management solutions. He also served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Computer Associates (CA), responsible for developing the strategies and campaigns that repositioned the company as the leading enterprise IT management software vendor on the market. Prior to his position at CA, Brian directed the corporate marketing efforts at Netegrity, a leading enterprise security management software vendor that was acquired by CA in 2004. He was also a member of the senior management team at both Allaire Corporation and Macromedia. Brian holds a BS degree from Syracuse University.
Jim Ducharme
Vice President, Engineering
Jim Ducharme leads all product engineering activities at Aveksa. He brings more than 16 years of experience delivering enterprise software solutions to market. Prior to joining Aveksa, he served as Vice President of Development at CA, responsible for the strategic planning, engineering, and delivery of the CA Identity Manager product line. Jim joined CA through the acquisition of Netegrity, a leader in Identity and Access Management, where he was initially responsible for the development of TransactionMinder, a Web services security product. He eventually assumed responsibility for Identity Management and the IdentityMinder product line. Prior to CA/Netegrity, Jim was Director of Development at YouPowered, a venture-backed startup company focused on identity privacy and behavior-driven personalization technology. Jim has also held senior positions at Sybase/Powersoft and at Natural Intelligence. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.
Dan Peterson
Vice President, Field Engineering
Dan Peterson is an Aveksa founder and is responsible for technical field operations around the globe. Dan has more than 25 years experience in product development, support, sales and consulting. Before joining Aveksa, he was Vice President of Professional Services and Business Development for Performaworks. Prior to that, Dan was Senior Vice President of Technology at Engage and a Regional Consulting Manager for Novell. He has also held technical and management positions at Banyan Systems, Hewlett Packard and IBM. Dan holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
Thomas Etheridge
Vice President, Professional Services
Tom Etheridge is responsible for Aveksa’s worldwide professional services, training and customer support functions. Tom brings over 15 years experience in establishing professional services organizations and 8 years of experience in managing the delivery of consulting services, solutions, training and support in the Security and Identity Management technology space. Before joining Aveksa, Tom was Vice President of Technology Services for CA where he was responsible for the overall growth and management of CA’s Global Services Solutions Engineering organization. Prior to that, Tom was the Worldwide Director of Professional Services at Netegrity. He has also held business consulting and management positions at KPMG and IBM. Tom is a graduate of Northeastern University.
Patrick Welch
Vice President, Sales
Patrick Welch oversees Aveksa’s worldwide sales organization. He is a seasoned executive with more than 13 years experience building highly successful enterprise sales teams. Prior to joining Aveksa, Patrick was Vice President of Identity Management Sales for CA, where he helped CA establish a leading position in the identity management market. He joined CA through the acquisition of Netegrity, where he held various global sales management, sales executive and business development roles. During his tenure at Netegrity, software sales grew from $0 to approximately $100 million. Prior to Netegrity, Patrick was a Sales Manager at Quadrant Software, where he was responsible for sales of their leading enterprise software solutions. Patrick earned a Masters of Business Administration and B.S. in Marketing from Providence College.
Pamela Cyr
Vice President, Business Development
Pamela Cyr is responsible for Aveksa’s channel and alliance initiatives. Pam brings more than 17 years of global strategic alliance management, business development, corporate merger and acquisition, product management and engineering experience to Aveksa. Prior to joining Aveksa, she was Director of Business Development at RSA Security, the security division of EMC, where she led the company’s global consultants and systems integrators, new market initiatives and strategic technology alliances. Pam also held various engineering and product management positions over the course of her ten year career with RSA Security. Prior to RSA Security, Pam held engineering leadership positions at Raytheon Company. Pam holds a B.S. in computer systems engineering from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
