Barry Bycoff
Chairman of the Board
Barry Bycoff brings more than 25 years of experience in the computer and software industry to his strategic guidance of Aveksa. He formerly served as a Venture Partner at Pequot Ventures (now FirstMark Capital) assisting portfolio companies with their operations and to make selected investments. In 1996, Barry founded Netegrity and created a new product category for enterprise security software. As Chairman, CEO and President, Barry directed Netegrity’s growth from a privately held start-up to one of the fastest growing software companies in the industry, with a dominant market share and revenues of close to $100 million when it was acquired by Computer Associates for approximately $450 million in 2004. Barry currently serves on the Board of Visitors at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering and on the Board of Directors at Progress Software.
John McMahon
John McMahon has had an illustrious career in the enterprise software sector leading sales, professional services, customer services and marketing teams at five public software companies, including Cisco, Ariba, Parametric Technology Corporation and Hewlett Packard. Most recently, McMahon served as Senior Vice President of Go-to-Market Initiatives and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Services at BMC Software. During his tenure at BMC, the company experienced significant revenue growth and its stock soared to a record high. Prior to BMC, McMahon served as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Customer Services for BladeLogic. During his tenure at BladeLogic, the company grew over 100 percent year over year and McMahon played a key role in transforming the company from its start-up stages to its successful initial public offering (IPO) in 2007 and ultimately its $800 million acquisition by BMC Software. McMahon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Amish Jani
Partner, FirstMark Capital
Amish Jani joined FirstMark Capital (formerly Pequot Ventures) in 2000, where he focuses on software and systems investments in the enterprise, communications and digital media sectors. Previously, Amish specialized in mergers and acquisitions in the information technology and telecommunications sectors with J.P. Morgan and Credit Suisse First Boston. Amish currently serves on the board of directors for COPAN Systems, IMI Mobile, LinkExperts and Scalent Systems, and as a board observer for Navic Networks, RSoft Design Group and Tectura.
Liron Gitig
Principal, FTV Capital
Liron Gitig joined FTV Capital in January 2006 and is a Principal with investment responsibilities in software. Prior to joining FTV Capital, Liron was responsible for software investments at venture funds including Lazard Technology Partners, Giza GE Venture Fund and BRM Capital. Before entering the venture capital field, Liron served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Fundtech Corporation (Nasdaq: FNDT), a global provider of electronic payments, cash management and settlement solutions. At Fundtech, Liron was responsible for leading strategic planning, and for identifying and executing on strategic acquisitions and partnerships.
Austin Westerling
Partner, Charles River Ventures
Austin Westerling joined Charles River Ventures in early 2000 and focuses on making investments in consumer and enterprise software and services. In addition to Aveksa, he is a Director of EnterpriseDB, Eons, Mochila, Secure Software and Trusted Network Technologies. Prior to joining CRV, Austin advised a variety of technology companies on strategic, operational and financial issues at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Vick Viren Vaishnavi
CEO and President, Aveksa
Vaishnavi is an accomplished, results-driven software executive with over 20 years of experience in global sales operations, marketing, business development, consulting, product management and engineering.
Prior to joining Aveksa, Vaishnavi served as vice president of worldwide marketing for BMC's $1.6 billion Enterprise Service Management (ESM) business and was responsible for driving global marketing strategy and field operations for the company's solutions and services business across the globe. Previous to BMC, Vaishnavi served as chief marketing officer and worldwide vice president of marketing at BladeLogic. During Vaishnavi's tenure, BladeLogic grew over 100 percent year over year where he played a key role in transforming the company from its start-up stages to its successful initial public offering (IPO) in 2007 and ultimately its $800 million acquisition by BMC Software. Before BladeLogic, Vaishnavi was a principal at Rishisoft, an IT management consulting firm advising Fortune 500 executives on IT operations process and cost control strategies. Prior to Rishisoft, Vaishnavi was a founding member at Opticom, a business service analytics software company, where he drove product marketing and corporate development. Previous to Rishisoft, Vaishnavi drove product management and strategy at Aprisma Management Technologies, a subsidiary of Cabletron Systems that was acquired by Computer Associates.
Vaishnavi has been awarded six patents in the U.S. and internationally for his work in IT management software systems. He holds a BSEE from IIT India, an MSCE from the University of Massachusetts, and an MBA in marketing and finance from Boston University School of Management.
Deepak Taneja
Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Aveksa
Deepak Taneja founded Aveksa in 2004 and has led the company from inception into the leading access governance vendor in the market. As Chief Technology Officer he is responsible for driving Aveksa’s technology vision and delivery, ensuring that the company’s solutions deliver the capabilities that customers need to solve their access governance challenges for today as well as in the future. Previously, he was CTO and VP of Engineering at Netegrity, where he was instrumental in establishing the company as a market leader in Identity and Access Management. Deepak has also held senior management roles at Switchboard, Banyan Systems and Intel Corporation. He holds a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
